The Almtal family pool – see you next summer

Since the 2026 season we have been running the much-loved outdoor pool in Grünau im Almtal. As the family who has been running the neighbouring Gasthof Zaunerhof for years, we have known this pool since childhood – and we do everything we can to keep it the place where locals and visitors enjoy summer together.

The 2026 season ended on 9 September – thank you to everyone who spent the summer with us! We expect to reopen in mid-May 2027; the exact date will be announced here and on Facebook. During the season the pool is open daily from 8:00 to 22:00, weather permitting.

What you'll find here

Over 500 m² of water, a sunny sunbathing lawn, plenty of shaded spots – and a buffet right at the poolside for whenever hunger strikes.

Sport pool

Heated pool with starting blocks – perfect for lap swimming and sport swimmers.

Adventure pool with slide

The water slide ends in the adventure pool – fun for water lovers of all ages.

Children's pool

A dedicated shallow area with a small slide – safe and lovingly designed for the youngest swimmers.

Bar, buffet & breakfast

Breakfast from 8:00, plus snacks, drinks and small dishes at the poolside. Bar & buffet daily until 22:00 – a cosy spot to linger.

Sunbathing lawn

Catch some sun or relax in the shade – the lawn offers both, with mountain views included.

Access & comfort

Showers, toilets and changing cabins – barrier-free with assistance.

At 2026 season rates a day pass costs € 5.50 for adults, € 4.10 for teens (15–18), € 2.80 for children (6–14) and € 4.30 for seniors. The evening ticket from 16:00 costs € 3.70 for adults. Prices are subject to change for 2027.

Are there season passes?

Yes. At 2026 rates the season pass costs € 99.00 for adults and € 149.00 for families (2 parents and kids under 14). As an Almtal-Combi it also grants entry to the outdoor pools at Vorchdorf and Viechtwang and the lake at St. Konrad, and then costs € 104.00 for adults and € 165.00 for families.

Which pools does Freibad Grünau have?

The pool complex has 532 m² of water: a heated sport pool with starting blocks, an adventure pool with a water slide and a children's pool with a small slide. There is also a sunbathing lawn with mountain views and a bar and buffet at the poolside.

Are there discounts?

Yes. There are reduced rates with the Gästekarte and the Upper Austria Family Card. Teens, children, seniors and visitors with a disability pass have their own rates.

Is the pool open in bad weather?

The pool is open weather permitting. It may stay closed on rainy days.
